"Keeping Our Promise" Agenda

Our veterans served on the front lines, yet when they return home to unnecessary obstacles and red tape when trying to access their earned benefits. They have earned quality healthcare. They have earned dignity and a secure retirement. We must ensure our veterans can access these benefits and have a path to success and stability upon their transition from service.

Veterans:

  • Pass the Major Richard Star Act, enabling combat-injured and medically retired veterans to receive both their full military retirement pay and VA disability compensation without offsets.

  • Restore VA Health Administration and Benefits Administration funding, including restoring DOGE’s cuts and layoffs championed by Anna Paulina Luna, which cut services and increased wait times.

  • Improve and invest in services at Bay Pines VA Medical Center, North Pinellas VA Clinic, St. Petersburg VA Clinic, New Clearwater Vet Center, and St. Petersburg Vet Center, as well as other Veterans Affairs offices that serve our community.

  • Increase and improve access to mental health services, including services that address trauma and treat substance abuse, and expand housing services so no one who has served our nation has to sleep on the streets.

  • Modernize the VA to improve services and training, reduce red tape, and eliminate inefficiencies to ensure veterans receive the benefits they earned and care they need.

  • Strengthen oversight of the VA to ensure the Department follows the law so no veteran is left behind.

  • Expand job training and services to help service members seamlessly transition from the military to civilian employment.

  • Improve partnerships with Veterans Service Organizations to ensure our veterans can have the support from the organizations that know how to best advocate for and support them.

Military Families:

  • Bolster support for spouses and families, including employment, education, healthcare, and housing services.

  • Protect families from toxic housing, ensuring families are not forced to live in housing with toxic mold and unsafe conditions.

  • Extend TRICARE coverage to ensure children of service members can stay on their parents’ healthcare until the age of 26, matching the current standard of civilian health insurance.
