House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark Endorses Leela Gray in Florida's 13th Congressional District
St. Petersburg, FL — Today, House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-05), the second-highest ranking Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives endorsed Democratic congressional candidate and retired Brigadier General Leela Gray, adding a powerful voice to the growing coalition behind Gray's campaign.
"Leela Gray is fighting for the issues families are talking about around their kitchen tables,” said Clark. “She sees insurance bills tripling, utility costs that keep climbing, and an economy that isn't working for the people who need it most. Thirty years in the US Army taught her what it means to show up and get the job done for the people counting on you. Florida's 13th District deserves a fighter who won't leave working families left out and left behind. I'm proud to endorse Leela Gray for Congress."
"Whip Clark has spent her career fighting for the issues that actually shape people's daily lives, the ones too often ignored in Washington," said Gray. "She knows what it takes to actually deliver for families, not just talk about it. I'm grateful for her confidence in this campaign, and I too will stand up every day to focus on and serve the people of FL-13."
Clark joins a growing coalition of leaders and organizations that have recognized Gray as the battle-tested leader Florida needs in Congress. The list includes Former House Majority Leader Congressman Steny Hoyer, Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Senator Mark Kelly, the Florida AFL-CIO, Congresswoman Kathy Castor (FL-14), Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-22), Former State Representative Ben Diamond, Ruth’s List founder Alex Sink, fellow veterans and U.S. Reps. Jason Crow, Pat Ryan, and Ted Lieu, Safety Harbor Mayor Joe Ayoub, EMILY’s List, New Politics, and VoteVets.
