St. Petersburg, FL — Today, retired Army Brigadier General Leela Gray, the Democratic nominee in FL-13, held a press conference at a local gas station to call out Anna Paulina Luna's six votes to continue the costly war in Iran that is skyrocketing gas and diesel prices for Florida families, now paying $4 a gallon.

Footage is available here.

Marking eight months since the start of the war, Gray highlighted how the ongoing conflict has driven up prices at the pump, costing families in Florida's 13th Congressional District an estimated $211 million in additional gas costs, or roughly $670 per family. Meanwhile, Luna has repeatedly voted against measures to end U.S. involvement in the war, leaving working families to shoulder the costs of Washington's reckless decisions.

“Have you seen the price of gas? People are suffering right here in Florida’s 13th District.” Gray said. “Our families and our small businesses deserve better. This war has cost us $47 billion. It is costing families right here hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in extra costs. And who is contributing to that? Congresswoman Luna.”

Gray contrasted Luna's record with her own commitment to service over self and focus on delivering solutions for her neighbors instead of personal profits. Gray recently released her Cutting Costs Agenda, which calls for ending the war in Iran, repealing tariff taxes, and tackling the rising costs of groceries, housing, healthcare, and insurance.

Following the press conference, Gray filled up several vehicles for campaign volunteers preparing to knock doors across FL-13, underscoring the everyday impact of rising fuel costs on Floridians trying to get to work, support their families, and serve their communities.
